Positive Communities 2 is a partnership of seven grassroots organisations and aims to provide a range of personalised support services for key target groups to help them address any barriers or issues they have which prevent them from moving from economically inactive to a more active status within the labour market. It will deliver a range of support services in line with those interventions proposed under the UKSPF E33 stream.

The outcome of this service has been amazing, I feel so confident I can book appointments without any issues now, my vocabulary has expanded and I get to use my new English skills a lot more everyday which excites me because I can test myself and see where I am at with my English speaking and listening.

My English has improved significantly, thanks to the structure of the course. I was warmly welcomed on the course and the staff at Wesley Hall and they have been amazing at pointing me in the right direction. This kind of support is needed in our community. By attending the day centre I am more positive, less self-critical and less anxious. I made new friends by attending community coffee mornings. The seated exercise made me more energetic and physically fit.

Due to the pandemic I lost my job and I couldn't afford the cost of living so I attended advice session. I have three children and my husband is disable. They advised me to apply for Universal Credit and my application was successful. I also attended Day centre activities, it was very helpful. I made lots of new friends while I was attending community coffee Mornings. I am volunteering with their foodbank which will help me for my future career. I am feeling motivated.

During the pandemic I was depressed and isolated. I was getting suicidal thoughts, panic attacks and social anxiety. Then I attended day centre. I participated in different activities like Bollywood live music and instrumental session, arts and crafts activities, Meditation and mindfulness session, baking and cooking activities and seated exercises. I made new friends. The tutors were very helpful and they helped me getting out of my depression. I have learnt coping skills and distraction techniques for managing my mental health better. I am getting better mentally and physically.

The English and Confidence Building class has made it easier for me to communicate with people and feel confident doing so. The Day Centre programme offers different classes and activities throughout the week, which helped me achieve a positive mind-set and mental health and wellbeing.

The support I received was terrific. I got a job with the support and assistance provided by PYCA and achieved an accredited certificate for Functional Skills English with the support of my teacher and advisor.
